Construction

Construction platforms use Moov to pay general contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers on time. You onboard each party as a Moov account, verify where they get paid, hold project funds in Moov wallets, and release payouts in seconds instead of days.

How money moves

  1. Project owner funds the job. The owner or general contractor funds your platform's Moov wallet from a linked bank account by ACH debit.
  2. Platform pays the contractor. When a draw or milestone is approved, you move funds from your wallet to the contractor's wallet. Wallet-to-wallet transfers are instant.
  3. Contractor pays subcontractors. The contractor pays subcontractors and suppliers from their wallet. Linking these transfers to the original payment keeps the chain traceable.
  4. Everyone cashes out. Each party withdraws to a verified bank account by instant payments (RTP or FedNow) or same-day ACH, or to an eligible debit card by push to card.

Construction considerations

Verify before you pay. Verifying linked bank accounts reduces payout fraud. Instant micro-deposits verify an account in a single session over RTP when the bank supports it, and fall back to same-day ACH when it doesn't. See instant micro-deposits.

Multi-tier payouts. Payments often pass through a general contractor before reaching subcontractors. With transfer groups, the final payee can see incoming funds before they land, and you keep the context of the original transfer for reporting. The wallet ledger records every debit and credit along the way.

Reconcile against invoices and draws. Store invoice numbers, draw IDs, or lien waiver references as transfer metadata. You can add or update metadata after a transfer starts or completes.

Check instant eligibility first. Not every bank account or card can receive instant funds. Check eligibility before you promise instant payment. The push to card and instant payments guides cover eligibility and the capabilities each rail needs.
